FAQ’s

What we are often asked….

WHY are we helping KIDS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES?

What do we as Austrians care about the fate of Albanian girls and boys? Or the children from Albania, Kosovo, another crisis area? Are we responsible if they are sick and injured and do not receive medication to relieve their suffering?

We have not laid mines in Afghanistan, we have not started a civil war in Angola, and we have not fueled poverty. But should we therefore look away when children die, are crippled, and inflammation is swept away?

We live in a country with the best medical infrastructure and we can do something to alleviate the effects of malpractice and insufficient care in other countries. That is the motivation of the alliance for children.

CAN WE DO MISSIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD?

In principle yes, practically: no. Efficient help requires a lot of preparatory work: We need diagnoses to initiate appropriate measures and treatments, as well as possible thorough assessments of the prospects of success, contacts with the authorities in the country of operation to organize exit permits …

CAN PARENTS ACCOMPANY THEIR SICK CHILDREN?

This is not possible for several reasons: First, there would be considerable difficulties due to immigration and asylum laws. On the other hand, we would not be financially able to bear such additional costs (flights, accommodation, …) As difficult as it may be to separate the children from the parents: it is of limited time and it is associated with great hope.

How are the children cared in Austria?

In addition to the professional and loving dedication of the hospital staff, our young patients can also count on regular visits and care in host families: Over the years we have gained many people as loyal and tireless volunteers who look after “our” children – making them comfort in case of homesick and distract pain.

COMPANY DONATIONS

Advertising for life

As a partner you can support the ALLIANCE for CHILDREN in a variety of ways – financially as well as with donations in kind, know-how or creativity: We would be happy to put together an individual package with you.

Tax deductible

Your company will be presented as servicing the good cause in our brochures, on our homepage, on our vehicles or in case of special campaigns.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?

Participation in the ALLIANCE for CHILDREN

When our little patients are being cared in hospitals or special clinics, we look forward to staff nearby who will visit and comfort the little patients or do small errands.

Interested? …We are happy to hear from them!

HOW LONG DO THE CHILDREN STAY IN AUSTRIA?

Our little patients stay here as long as medical treatment requires. This can be a few days or, in severe cases, months.

WOULD IT BE BETTER TO KEEP CHILDREN IN AUSTRIA?

This is definitely not the case. Even if there is great poverty in the home of our patients, they are at home there and embedded in a family home, have siblings and relatives. Our goal is medical care, which is so often and so urgently needed. And anyone who has experienced the joy of reunion when we bring our healthy patients back knows, that we are doing the right thing …

WHY IS THE AGE OF 14 YEARS OLD?

As our name suggests, our help focuses on children.

That is one aspect. The other: We are bound by compliance with the asylum laws and therefore we cannot carry out treatments for over 14-year-olds in Austria.

CAN I TAX MY DONATION?

YES Your donation to the ALLIANCE for CHILDREN is tax deductible.

Please note, however, that private individuals no longer claim donations as special expenses themselves, but that the beneficiary organization must forward the name, the date of birth and the annual donation amount to the tax authorities!

So that you can continue to send your donations to the ALLIANCE for CHILDREN in the future, we ask you to check the data available to us (name, address) and also to give us your date of birth (which is also required for registration). Please also make sure that we only have the name for which the donation is to be made – and not, for example, the first names of both spouses (e.g. Franz and Rosa Mustermann) are noted in our database. Your information (name spelling) must match the information in the registration register.

Thank you very much for your support!

You can send us your data in the following ways:

Deductibility

With the decision of the responsible tax office dated December 23, 2009, the ALLIANCE FOR CHILDREN was included in the “beneficiary group of beneficiaries of development and disaster relief institutions and institutions that collect donations”. From now on, donations to Allianz are tax-deductible for children! It is therefore possible to help more without being exposed to additional stress.

What donations can be deducted?

In principle, all donations made to Alliance for Children within a year (and after the 23.12.2009 deadline!) Can be declared to the tax office. It should be noted that the donations you make (to all beneficiary organizations together) are added up and only up to an amount of 10% of your previous year’s income or the profit of the last one Fiscal year are actually taken into account for tax purposes.

Please keep the order confirmation of your deposit as proof. This is considered a donation receipt for the submission of your donation to the tax office.

How much does the tax office actually refund?

Whether and how much you actually get reimbursed by the tax office depends on the amount of your income (and thus on the amount of income or wage tax you have paid). In the best case, you will get 50% of your total donation back from the tax office.

Proof of donations for private individuals:

For individuals, donations to the Alliance for Children are tax-deductible as special expenses as part of the employee assessment. Your payment slips (payment slips, bank statements, etc.) serve as proof. We advise you to keep these receipts carefully, as the tax office can request them up to 7 years later.

Proof of donations for companies

As a company, you can deduct donations to Alliance for Children from business assets as operating expenses. In contrast to private individuals, donations in kind can also be considered for tax purposes in addition to monetary donations. As a voucher, you will automatically receive confirmation of the donations made throughout the previous year by March of the following year.

Since the tax office can request the presentation of original receipts, we would like to point out that you should keep them for up to 7 years!

In principle, each donation can only be made once – in other words, either as a private donation or as a donation from the company.

Further information can be found on the homepage of the Federal Ministry of Finance www.bmf.gv.at or you can send us your questions by email to office@allianz-fuer-kinder.at!

THANKS for your support of our work!
